С момента запуска консоли Playstation 3 компания Sony потеряла 3.3 миллиарда долларов (!!!) “благодаря” своей политике продажи консоли по цене меньшей ее стоимости. Годовой отчет Sony допускает это: “Даже если платформа в конечном счете успешна, может понадобиться больше времени, чем ожидалось чтобы возместить инвестиции, отрицательно влияя на доходы Sony”. В общей сложности в 2007 компания потеряла 2.16 миллиарда, а в 2008 1.16 миллиард долларов. Консоль все еще слишком дорога для массовой аудитории, но такие блокбастеры как MGS4 и GTA4 могут существенно повлиять на продажи консоли.
