После того, как EA купила студию BioWare (разработчики шедеврального Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic и не менее шедеврального Mass Effect), по Сети начали активно распространяться слухи о выходе сиквела Mass Effect на конкурирующей консоли, Playstation 3. В своем интервью старший менеджер BioWare Мэт Эттвуд (Matt Atwood) прокомментировал данную ситуацию: на момент релиза игра будет находиться в статусе эксклюзива для Xbox 360 (по крайней мере временного), также он подчеркнул что у компании по-прежнему отличные отношения с Microsoft. Так что PS3 версия не исключена. Стоит отметить, что проект финансируют Microsoft, и у EA нет полных прав на франчайз, но в таком случае заявления Эттвуда выглядит странно. Кстати, уже официально подтвердили, что игра скорее всего появится и на PC.
